With sales of around €645* million, Messe Frankfurt is one of the world’s largest trade fair companies. The Messe Frankfurt Group has a global network of 29 subsidiaries and 57 international Sales Partners.

This allows it to serve its customers on location in more than 160 countries. Messe Frankfurt events take place at more than 40 locations around the globe. In 2015, Messe Frankfurt organised a total of 132* trade fairs and exhibitions, of which 86* took place outside Germany.

The cornerstone of the company has always been its Frankfurt exhibition grounds, which played host to some 37,000* exhibitors and 2.2* million visitors in 2015.

Frankfurt has been well known as a trade fair centre for over 800 years. In the past, traders and businesspeople met at the Römer, the famous Frankfurt city hall and plaza. Later, the focus shifted to the new grounds of the Festhalle. Comprising an area of 592,127 square metres, Messe Frankfurt’s exhibition grounds are home to ten exhibition halls. With 366,637 square metres of exhibition space at their disposal, they are the second largest exhibition grounds in the world. The company also operates two congress centres.

The company is publicly owned, with the City of Frankfurt holding 60 percent and the State of Hesse 40 percent. Messe Frankfurt employs 2,297* people worldwide.

Every year, around 270 trade fairs, congresses, conferences and other events are held in Frankfurt am Main, including automotive industry event Automechanika and other international flagship events such as Light+Building, IFFA, Musikmesse and Prolight+Sound. The consumer goods industry comes together in Frankfurt for Ambiente, Christmasworld and Paperworld, while the Group’s textile fair portfolio includes Heimtextil, Techtextil and Texcare. Each of these events represents the international market for their respective sectors.

As well as its own events, Messe Frankfurt plays host to high-profile international guest events. These include the International Motor Show (Cars), the Frankfurt Book Fair, ACHEMA and Imex.

Advantages of Frankfurt as a trade fair centre

Central location at the heart of Europe. Best transport connections by air, rail and road, largest train station in Europe, largest airport on the continent. Direct flights to and from locations all over the world bring exhibitors and visitors from Asia and the Americas to Frankfurt in far less time than it would take for them to travel between their respective countries.

 

Central trade fair location: around 15 minutes with the S-Bahn suburban train from the airport to the Central Station; from here, four suburban train lines run every five minutes to the “Messe” station located directly on the exhibition grounds; underground and tram stops are located at the City entrance.

 

3,500 parking spaces on the exhibition grounds, 15,000 parking spaces in the Rebstock car park, including 5,400 parking spaces in the multi-storey car park; free shuttle bus to the exhibition grounds.
